Robert Wood

certified peer support specialist

As a Certified Peer Support Specialist with 10 years of experience at the Veteran Health Care System of the Ozarks, I’m walking my own wellness and recovery journey — and I bring that lived experience into every conversation. My role isn’t to tell you what to do. It’s to walk alongside you, share what’s worked for me, and explore together what might work for you.

That might look like building an inventory of where you are and identifying areas you want to grow in. We might dig into your mission, aspirations, or sense of purpose — and get clear on what wellness looks like for you. I help create a space where your voice is heard, your experiences are respected, and your next steps are your own.

I facilitate Whole Health groups like Taking Charge of My Life and Health, Wellness Action Planning, and movement-based practices like Tai Chi, Mindfulness, Walking, and Yoga (when face-to-face groups are possible). I’m also a Whole Health Mentor and Champion — and yes, I’m even a professional Santa Claus. Others have said I bring a gracious presence, insight that connects, and a good dose of humor to this work.

One of my favorite parts of this journey is helping people discover their own strengths and turn them into positive, sustainable action. Sometimes the first step is simply defining what "doing okay" looks like for you — and then building daily practices to stay there. Every step counts, even the smallest ones. You’re the driver. I’m just the navigator.
